 | Heat Exchangers For General Applications Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers are used in the HVAC, chemical, power, and food industries to provide efficient heat transfer between hot and cold fluids. The customer can select the tubing material and the sizes and locations of connections for easy installation and piping, and can choose from four head constructions.

 | Fuel Oil Preheaters Alstrom Fuel Oil Heaters serve two major purposes: to make fuel oil "pumpable" and to provide the requested atomization in the burner. Fuel oil has a high viscosity and when stored at the ambient temperature cannot be pumped. The first step is to preheat the fuel oil inside the storage tank, reduce its viscosity , and then dispense it by means of pump suction. "VSF" and "ATL" tank suction heaters are used in underground storage tanks, while "SSF" heaters apply to aboveground tanks. The oil leaving the tank is heated to 110-120°F. Before fuel oil flows to the burner, it receives additional heating. The required fuel oil temperature depends upon the burner design and the grade of fuel oil. Usually, burner manufacturers specify the temperature best suited for their burners. Fuel oil No. 6 is heated to 160°F in horizontal rotary burners, 220°F in steam atomizing burners, and 250°F in mechanical atomizing burners. Alstrom "HST," "ST," "HDT," and "DT" fuel oil heaters are designed for this purpose. For the majority of applications, the electric heater is used for startup. Once the boiler provides sufficient steam pressure or water temperature, the electric heater assumes a standby function. Combination Steam-Electric Fuel Oil Heater "ASE" combines the steam tube bundle and the electrical sheath into one unit, thereby creating a simple, compact, labor-saving package. The properly designed fuel oil preheater provides the necessary fuel oil atomization, resulting in complete combustion and efficient, trouble-free burner maintenance.

| Heat Recovery Heat Exchangers Alstrom Heat Recovery Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers recover and utilize the heat, from liquid and gas streams, which is normally wasted. Generally in the boiler industry, boiler water blowdown is used to maintain the accumulated chemical concentration levels recommended by the boiler manufacturer. The wasted heat is transferred to the make up water in our ABD heat exchanger. Depending on steam consumption, the ratio of the blowdown water to the make up water volume flow rate is 0.02-0.20. The best heat transfer occurs when the blowdown water passes through the multiple passes of tubing and the make up water flows through the shell Alstrom heat exchangers ATC provides the countercurrent heat transfer for the crossing temperatures common in heat recovery installations. Depending on the temperatures and flow rates of the hot and cold streams, multiple shell heat exchanger AMS may be required.

This increases the man-hours required for on-site field work and limits assembly quality to the installer's level of qualification. Alstrom Packaged Units, which include our high quality heat exchangers, are conveniently packaged and only require connection to the service. All components are sized, mounted, and piped prior to shipment, with the exception of certain items (e.g., thermometers and pressure gauges) which can be damaged during shipping. Each package is designed, manufactured, and hydrostatically tested in our facilities. All components are supplied by the most reliable and well-respected manufacturers in the United States. Alstrom pre-engineered packaged units save on installation time and guarantee qualified factory assembly. While manufactured from a similar design concept, each unit is customized according to the client's specific needs and performance requirements.
